And with it, ensuring that Barack Obama is a lame duck for the remaining two years of his one-term presidency.

Come November, we’re going to party like it’s 1994!

The Super*Shed…..so it begins

November 11th, 2009

After three years of saving and planning, the first official step in constructing my 12×20 shed has begun. V&M Construction will be arriving today to dig a 26x27x1 hole and filling it with gravel. This will be the base for the concrete pad in the spring (the extra width is for an overhang).

Google Blogger

October 23rd, 2009

For the most part, I love all things Google, but the Blogger really sucks compared to WordPress.

No, I wanted to print out the entire month, not just the first three posts. Oh, I see, you don’t have that feature.

Shrewd business practices in this economy

  • Economy tanks
  • Fail to show up and/or return phone calls, creating illusion you are much too busy to deal with such trivial things as “customers”

Called G&E Excavation of Cornish, Maine to give me an estimate on a gravel base for my shed.  The guy said he’d be at my house Monday night at 6:00 p.m.  He never showed up.

Called V&M Construction of Gorham, Maine.  He actually came out, and mailed me an estimate of $1425.  I had a question, left a voicemail on Friday, a voicemail on Tuesday, and finally left a voicemail on Wednesday telling him basically, “Hey thanks for playing, but you lose”.

_

UPDATE: Called Scott Dugas Excavation today and got an estimate of $2350, which as everyone knows is awfully close to $1425. What’s the deal, you got gold dust in that gravel or something?

_

UPDATE: Left a message with Gorham Ground Works, they never called back.  I’m sensing a trend here.

_

UPDATE: V&M called back, guy said there was a family emergency and he forgot to change his message, so I decided to give him a 2nd chance.
